We moved to our new location in Kings x and were doing quite a few gigs around this time and we needed some new material, I had this relentless riff that I took to rehearsal to try out and once we started to jam with it, it became a real moment of charged excitement, we were jamming the main riff to what became ‘Join Hands’ and I remember feeling a sense of “Wow , what a band” when we were doing it. I went away and added the Instrumental between the verses that was slightly akin to ‘In My Time of Dying’ by ‘Led Zep’ and then decided to create a middle section that was a nod to ‘Rage Against the Machine’ whose first and iconic album had been released a short while earlier. It was based around a descending power riff on one string which started on the Bass and then leapt into a full blown band section after four bars. We beat it into shape at Rehearsals where the title ‘Join Hands’ came to life. Which became a lyric that was about lost souls joining hands to walk together to the ‘Pleasure Maze’ and to not feel alone. We recorded it totally live in my new studio which had very large monitor speakers which we used to full effect, and created the tension in the long Ethereal intro before bursting into an Anthemic Rock assault. Soon after as were the atmospheric Keyboards, and playing it at Rehearsals as a band for the first time was a Biblical experience.
