Oh No, This Song was written as a snapshot of my confused view of life and my people behaviour observations at that time (1992) “Smiling at the Madmen as they crawl across the floor, you think you’ve found the answer as you race towards the door” It’s a little bit like my take on ‘Hotel California’ as it describes the life I have created and my craving to run for the door. It features the use of Octave Guitar parts again although this time they are played as a two octave sliding riff that gives the feel of double tracking.
Coupled with a Vibrato rhythm guitar part in the verses which adds a nice ambience which gives way to the Chorus “Oh No, nobody told me it would be like this, Nobody told me it would be this way, Oh No, Oh No, Oh No” which is me expressing my exasperation at the world around me. I have to say that all our songs were only as good as Jon’s Bass playing and Rick’s Drumming which constantly staggered me with its inventiveness and power and without using a click track. Oh No features a galloping rhythm section in places and a half time groove which was a privilege to record with these amazing musicians as were the rest of the songs on our Album.
