It was 1990 and early on in me and Cecelia’s writing collaboration that we wrote a collection of songs, one of which was Slip 'n Slide. She had come to me to get her singing career started and wanted me to make her and I quote “The Female Axl Rose”
Well that was going to be a challenge, I had for some time been writing some good Tunes and strong Riffs that need putting together as Songs and so me and ‘C’ would meet up in my little studio in the evenings and I would play a riff and see if we could think of a title for it and cobble together a chorus, Slip 'n Slide came about when I wrote the lines “In Celebrated Circles, I give my people Head, when the drama queens of Disneyland have retired and gone to bed” which had both Megalomaniac, sexual and Social references,(These lyric lines would come to me randomly whilst thinking of the rhythm of the riff when on the Bus, Driving or sitting on the Loo) . The Chorus 'Slip 'n Slide, on the floor, Slip n slide I want more, Slip' n Slide, Regret one more, Slip 'n Slide, I want it all” had both Power and Sexual references which seemed to work well with the verse as well as making a strong title. We put together an arrangement and as we didn’t yet have a Drummer or a Bass Player we continued to write songs in preparation for our first recording session. Slip ‘n Slide was to become the first Song on the set list at every gig and was a great ice breaker for the band to get in the groove and for the audience to instantly get what we were about.
