about

The TWISTED Story

Me and my Girlfriend had gone on a weeks holiday to Cornwall, and at that time I have to say are clothes and haircuts were what I can only describe as anti-social and on arrival, every Bed and Breakfast we tried to book into put it’s no Vacancy sign up when we were parking up outside. In fact, I do believe we spent our first night in Cornwall sleeping in the back of our Van. We did however manage to find places to stay subsequently in St Ives, Newquay and Looe. As we progressed I had started to reflect on the triangle that had manifested between Cecelia, my girlfriend and me. Cecelia was working for my girlfriend who had her own fashion business in Kensington Market and the two had bonded experiencing similar frustrations with my inability to show emotions to the two people who loved me the most, hence Twisted came to light.
The lyrics poured out of me, that for some reason were akin to the movie ‘The Exorcist’ “See your Head turn round and Round, Watch the Vomit hit the ground, shave the head we’ll see the sign, Crucify this child of mine” etc etc. I can only surmise that Cecelia and Debbie were the target of this vile rhetoric even though they were not at fault, I was.On returning to London I set about setting the words to music which came really easily as the lyrics had a natural rhythm which chugged along like an endless freight train. I then made it more dynamic with the double time instrumentals which fitted in beautifully. On the first day of recording Twisted we had a surprise visitor in the shape of Kirk Brandon the lead singer of ‘Theatre of Hate’ and ‘Spear of Destiny’ who wandered into the studio and said “I heard your track outside and it reminded me of ‘Black Sabbath’ it’s really good, you should call my manager and get him to book you a support slot in London soon” which he did and we supported ‘Spear of Destiny at the Town and Country Club in Kentish Town and went into talks with Kirks manager about him Managing us lot. With the weighty backing track recorded me and Cecelia went into the studio to record the vocals which started with a gentle soft voice, kicking in at the second verse with a scowling, rasping, venomous Vocal that was ear splitting culminating at the end into what is the real sound of Cecilia vomiting into a bucket on the floor caused by the ferocity of her Vocals. It was a real privilege to play Twisted live as when we sat on the relentless groove it was fearsome.

Twisted Lyrics

Verse 1: Sleep you saltry child you sleep
Steel away the nights don’t weep
Sweet the innocence in your smile
You’re a twisted child of mine
Bridge 1: The whole world see you sigh
Your a Twisted child of mine
Lets go now
Verse 2: See your head turn round and round
Watch the vomit hit the ground
Shave the head we’ll see the sign
Crucify this child of mine
Bridge 2: The whole world see you smile
You’re a Twisted child of mine
Verse 3: I see blood their in your eyes
Where the demons light will shine
Don’t despair we’ll lock the door
When the devil comes to call
Bridge 3: The whole world sees you sigh
You’re a Twisted child of mine
Verse 4: Sleep you saltry child you sleep
Steal away the nights don’t weep
Sweet the innocence in your smile
You’re a Twisted child of mine
Bridge 4: The whole world sees you smile
