WE ARE THE BLESSED Story

We are the Blessed came from an idea I recorded on my Dictaphone in early 1992 it was a message to everybody in the world to love yourself first and it will guide you to Utopia and become Blessed hence the words “We are the Blessed” It also describes us as once having learnt to love ourselves you can control your own destiny and never be alone. 25 years later I believe these verse lyrics to be very relevant today. Which then gives way to a chorus of Stadium proportions and invites a mass choir of “we are the Blessed, we are the Bleee HH sed” Again this Monstrous Riff monster of a tune joins together Great riffs that I believe came from the chorus lyric that would have prompted me to add the chorus power chords. Also In this arrangement we used a speed metal riff and then dropped to a half time Grunge riff which sit really well together creating an air of expectancy for when the next speed section comes in, this is a technique we employed a lot in our songs to create tension and Dynamics We would totally love to play this one as we could growl like a freight train in the Grunge sections and seriously Rock out in the fast sections which in the instrumental section includes a key change and some great Wah Wah guitar playing, and then after the last bombastic chorus we go into the Slash style guitar solo outro leading to smash it out of the park end stabs. During the recording of these songs my recording production developed radically as I got more involved with every note played. Guitars are multi tracked to achieve a big fat wide soundscape with carefully arranged instrumental parts interweaving the song to give the song Dynamics especially with the use of Wah Wah, Vibrato, Chorus Distortion and delay FX that were great to spread the sound even wider. Also vocally The effective use of Loads of ADR compression allowed the Vocal to sit nicely in the track with all the chaos still audible whilst the Vocal sits snug in the track. Jon’s Bass playing using chords and an Octaver pedal sounded like a Pneumatic drill and Ricks Drums are so well hit and completely accurately and loud that the Rhythm section is as relentless as a tsunami This song deserves to be played at Download just to witness 30,000 people singing the chorus which makes me shiver with excitement.
